The Proprietary Methodology
The 3R Framework™
Recover. Reframe. Reinvent. A coaching methodology built on 30 years of leading people through the most complex transitions of their professional lives.
Why Most Transitions Fail
Most leaders approach transition as a project. They make a plan, set a timeline, and expect to execute their way through it. But transition is not a project. It is a deeply personal process of letting go of what was, making sense of what is, and building confidence in what comes next.
That is exactly what the 3R Framework is designed to support.
Created by Colin Bolton after decades of leading enterprise transformation and executive coaching, the 3R Framework integrates emotional intelligence, identity clarity, mindset and behavior change, and strategic activation into a single structured methodology that actually meets people where they are.
Stage One. Recover.
The first stage of the 3R Framework is about creating the space to stop, breathe, and get honest about where you actually are.
Most leaders in transition are running on empty. They are managing the visible demands of their role while carrying invisible weight: uncertainty about identity, fear of failure, exhaustion from performing confidence they do not feel. Before any forward movement can happen, that weight needs to be acknowledged and addressed.
In this stage we focus on
- Honest self-assessment and emotional inventory
- Understanding what has been lost and what that means for your identity
- Rebuilding baseline clarity, energy, and psychological safety
- Creating the conditions for real reflection without judgment
This is not therapy. It is structured coaching that creates the space for genuine recovery so that the next stages can actually work.
Stage Two. Reframe.
Once you have the clarity and energy to see things clearly, the Reframe stage challenges the stories that have been driving your decisions.
Most leaders in transition are not held back by a lack of capability. They are held back by a narrative. A story they have been telling themselves about who they are, what they deserve, what is possible, and what success looks like. Some of those stories were never true. Others were true once but no longer serve the leader they are becoming.
In this stage we focus on
- Identifying and challenging limiting beliefs and fixed narratives
- Exploring identity beyond titles, roles, and achievements
- Reframing setbacks and transitions as strategic opportunities
- Building a new and honest understanding of your strengths, values, and leadership edge
This stage is often the most transformative part of the framework. It is where real change begins.
Stage Three. Reinvent.
The final stage of the 3R Framework is where insight becomes action and clarity becomes momentum.
With a clear emotional foundation and a reframed sense of identity, you are now ready to build intentionally toward the future you actually want. Not the one that looks good on paper. Not the one others expect. The one that is genuinely aligned with who you are as a leader.
In this stage we focus on
- Defining a clear and compelling vision for your next chapter
- Building a structured action plan with specific milestones and accountability
- Developing the habits, practices, and leadership behaviors that will sustain the reinvention
- Creating measurable momentum that continues long after the coaching engagement ends
Reinvention is not about becoming someone new. It is about removing everything that is keeping you from becoming the leader you were always capable of being.
